How long should an eyebrow pencil last?

You’ve read the reviews, you’ve heard the hype and you’re thinking about bagging yourself one of EyebrowQueens Brow Pro eyebrow pencils but how long will it last?
Making the most of your makeup

With the makeup industry booming, it can sometimes be hard to make informed choices about what makeup to buy, when there are so many products on the market. We all want to use the best products available to create our look. Whilst price is a factor, it’s often more about quality and value for money – we all want our makeup products to last. With that in mind, we thought we’d explore the Brow Pro eyebrow pencil and typically what to expect.

How long does EyebrowQueens Brow Pro last?

Sadly, there’s not one simple answer to this question as everyone has different eyebrows and skin types. The amount of product that you will use on a day-to-day basis will depend on the type of brows you have.
Generally, if you have quite full brows, you will only need to draw in a few fine hair strokes to achieve your desired look and so will only be using a small amount of the product daily. The pencil will likely last a bit longer than someone who has sparse brows, who wishes to create a fuller brow. If you consider your brows to be sparse, you will need to fill in a lot more areas using the Brow Pro so will therefore use substantially more product on a day to day basis.
If you are going through a ‘regrowth programme’ to grow your brows out (in order to achieve their desired shape) you will likely use more product than say when you have achieved your preferred shape, as during the regrowth process, you will often need to ‘colour in’ patches where hair growth is slow or perhaps missing. This can use a fair amount of brow pencil however once the brow is ‘grown in’ and shaped, you should only need to use a small amount here and there to slightly thicken and define.
If you are having additional brow procedures such as microblading and semi-permanent makeup you may need a brow pencil to fill in small areas where pigment hasn’t taken or where it’s faded.
Typically, the Brow Pro lasts around 6-10 weeks depending on your brow shape, size, and whether or not you’ve had a brow procedure.

How long does it last once applied?

Once the Brow Pro has been applied, it should last up to 24 hours. Depending on the environment and skin type, it can however differ slightly. Hotter climates will make you inevitably sweat a little, which may have an effect on the ‘staying power’ of the product; as will playing sports or physical activity! If you are someone who has oily skin, someone who is often found sunning themselves on a beach somewhere, or an avid gym-goer, apply our Brow Fix on top of the Brow Pro to make your brows both waterproof and sweat-proof! A little Brow Fix goes a long way so there’s no need to use too much product to achieve great results. The brows will stay put all day until you remove them with your favourite makeup remover. How Brilliant? One less thing to worry about!

The Brow Pro
When asking ‘How long does the Brow Pro last?’, consider your current brow type, your daily environment and lifestyle, and whether or not you will be using it along with one of our other amazing brow products! Either way, we have every faith that you will love using the Brow pro to create stunning eyebrows! However, if brow pencils aren’t for you, why not consider using EyeBrowQueen’s Colour Boost instead! This is a tinted, buildable gel brow mascara enriched with microfibres which provides instant colour! We like to think of it as a ‘combination’ of the Brow Pro and Brow Fix.  It gives you the colour of the Brow Pro with the reinforcement of the Brow Fix. The fibres are great at giving you a fuller and fluffier look – achievable in seconds!   Click here to shop the EyebrowQueens products!  Considering a more permanent eyebrow solution? How long does the brow pro last
Depending on how you use the Brow Pro will determine how long it will last for. If you have quite full brows, you will only be needing to draw in a few fine hair strokes, so the pencil will last a bit longer for you over someone who has sparse brows. This is because you will be needing more product to fill the gaps in, so like with any product it will run out quicker.
On your skin the Brow Pro should last up to 24 hours, but depending on environment your skin type it can differ. However if you live an active lifestyle we recommend putting the Brow Fix on top of the Brow Pro to make it waterproof and sweat proof which means you can confidently go through the day without having to worry about rubbing your brows on anything or getting them wet.
The EyeBrowQueen Colour Boost will last you all day until you choose to take it off with makeup remover. It is a gel brow mascara which I like to think of as a combination of the Brow Pro and Brow Fix which means it gives you the colour of the Brow Pro but with the reinforcement of the Brow Fix. It also has fibers in it so that it gives you a fuller and fluffier look that you can do in seconds!

We know that cosmetics aren’t cheap, and the last thing anyone wants to do is toss out even a single application’s worth of their favorite products. So when your makeup reaches its expiration date, you might be tempted to hang onto it for as long as you can. So is it okay to keep your products for longer than marked? Or do you have to toss them right away? Well, here’s the truth.

What the Date Means

The truth is, the date on your makeup is important, but you might not have to toss it out right on that day. Cosmetics tend to retain bacteria more easily than most other kinds of products, which is why the expiration date is so important. You don’t want to be putting bacteria-laden products around your eyes or lips, do you?

But the date on the packaging is based on the assumption that you’re going to be opening and using the product right away. So if you store the makeup for a while before the first use, then you likely don’t need to dispose of it on the expiration date. So, how long can you actually keep your products?

Product Shelf Life

Here are the general guidelines for how long you can keep various cosmetic products, measuring from the time that you first use it:

  • Foundation: 6 months to 1 year
  • Lipstick, liner, and gloss: 1 year
  • Brow pencils and eyeliner: 1 year
  • Mascara: 3 months
  • Liquid eyeliner: 3 to 4 months
  • Blushes and other powder: 2 years
  • Cream blushes: 12 to 18 months
  • Eye shadow: 3 to 6 months

Generally speaking, the more moisture a product contains, and the closer it is applied to your eyes, the sooner it needs to be thrown out. Moisture-laden products will retain more bacteria, and of course, you don’t want a bacteria-filled mascara wand or eyeliner pencil to be right next to your eye.

Signs It’s Time to Toss It

Of course, you probably don’t write down the date that you opened your current cosmetic products. So how do you know when to toss them out? Just keep an eye out for signs of change in the product’s composition. Changes in color, texture, or smell are sure signs it’s time to toss it. If it’s drying out, starting to separate, or getting goopy, you need to throw it out--not just because it’s probably getting bacteria in it, but because you’re no longer going to get good application out of it.

How to Help It Last Longer

If you want to help your cosmetics to last longer, there are a few things you can do. First, always apply your makeup with clean hands (for the sake of your products and your face). This will help keep bacteria and germs off the packaging and out of the product. Second, whenever possible, don’t touch your fingers directly to the opening or the product. For example, when applying liquid foundation, squirt a small amount onto the back of your hand instead of wiping the opening with your fingertip.

And finally, never share liquid cosmetics with anyone, especially the products that you apply around your eyes. Not only can the germs from other people make your products go bad more quickly, but they can lead to eye infections and other problems. So do yourself and your products a favor, and be a little selfish in this regard.

By treating your products properly and ensuring you don’t use expired products, you’ll get a better application and a more flawless look from your makeup.
