Application of chitosan in agriculture -- what pests and diseases to control

Chitosan can be used to control a variety of crop diseases and pests, especially for some difficult to control diseases and pests, such as plant fungal diseases, aphids, leaf rolling moths and so on have a good control effect.

 

1. Agricultural application of chitosan

Chitosan is the product of chitosan prepared by deacetylation reaction, mainly from the shell of crustaceans and the wall of fungi. In recent years, chitosan has been widely used in the fields of pest control, soil improvement and plant growth regulation in agriculture because of its environmental friendliness and excellent biological activity.

2. The prevention and control effect of chitosan

(1) Antibacterial effect

Chitosan has a strong antibacterial ability, can inhibit the growth and reproduction of plant pathogens, fungal diseases such as gray mold, anthrax, downy mildew, etc., chitosan can inhibit the metabolism of pathogens, damage the bacterial wall and cell membrane to play an antibacterial role.

(2)  Anti-insect effect

Chitosan inhibits the growth and development of insects that feed on plant juice, such as aphids, leaf rolling moths, and whiteflies. It can play an anti-insect role by inhibiting the digestive enzyme activity of pests and destroying the exoskeleton and cell membrane of pests.

(3)  Plant growth regulators

Chitosan can also be used as a plant growth regulator in crops, which can promote the division and growth of plant cells, improve crop yield and quality, and improve crop stress resistance.

3. Application prospect of chitosan

With the continuous pursuit and demand of green agricultural production, the application prospect of chitosan in the field of agricultural control is more and more broad. Compared with traditional chemical pesticides, chitosan has the characteristics of environmental friendliness, safety and efficiency, rapid degradation, and can also improve the quality of crops and enhance the resistance of crops, so it has a good application prospect and development potential.
