Preparation of magnesium oxide by carbonation method:Using dolomite or magnesite, active magnesium oxide can be obtained by calcination, water digestion, carbonation, calcination, and crushing. The brine white cloud lime method uses seawater or brine as raw material to undergo precipitation reaction with lime or white cloud ash.The obtained magnesium hydroxide precipitate is filtered, dried, and calcined to obtain active magnesium oxide.
Magnesite ore is one of the main sources of magnesium oxide, with a magnesium oxide content of about 47%.Magnesium carbonate is a solid powder of magnesium oxide obtained by light calcination(400-600℃)and then ground.Mineral resources are widely distributed in           Liaoning,Xinjiang,Sichuan,Shandong,Xizang and other provinces and autonomous regions, with reserves of 2.8 billion tons, accounting for 30%of the world's mineral resources.Dolomite ore is also the main source of magnesium oxide, and its reserves are larger and more widely distributed, with magnesium oxide content accounting for about 22%.The content of calcium oxide accounts for about 30%,while the rest is 48%.The theoretical structure of magnesium carbonate and calcium oxide is one-to-one.The boundary of dolomite is determined based on the content of magnesium carbonate above 25%,otherwise it cannot be used as an ore for producing magnesium oxide, nor can it be called dolomite.Serpentine is also a raw material for producing magnesium oxide, mainly magnesium hydrosilicate. The slag used for smelting lightweight magnesium alloys is also a raw material for producing magnesium oxide.
The bitter earth powder sulfuric acid ammonium carbonate method reacts magnesium containing raw materials such as bitter earth powder with sulfuric acid to form a magnesium sulfate solution. The magnesium sulfate solution reacts with ammonium bicarbonate to form magnesium carbonate precipitate. The precipitate is then filtered, separated, washed, dried, calcined, and crushed to obtain active magnesium oxide.Preparation of magnesium oxide by sintering method:using fused magnesium blocks as raw materials. After material selection, crushing, and screening,it is thoroughly mixed with a certain proportion of liquid titanium dioxide, and then washed, dried, and sintered to select a particle size of 40-150 mesh, which is the finished high-temperature electrical grade magnesium oxide.
Preparation of magnesium oxide by brine ammonium bicarbonate method:The reaction between brine and ammonium bicarbonate is used to generate basic magnesium carbonate, which is then aged, washed, dehydrated, dried, calcined, crushed, purified, and heat treated to obtain silicon steel grade magnesium oxide.Preparation of magnesium oxide by hydrochloric acid method:The waste material from the production of heavy magnesium oxide is fed into a reactor, and hydrochloric acid is added for reaction to generate magnesium chloride hexahydrate. Then, sodium carbonate is added for reaction to generate basic magnesium carbonate. The basic magnesium carbonate is washed with water, calcined at high temperature, cooled, and crushed to obtain magnetic magnesium oxide.
